Maple Leaves
Maple leaves are some of the prettiest fall leaves in my opinion, and they were my inspiration for this cake made to celebrate the retirement and birthday of a friend's husband. The bottom tier of this cake is chocolate and the top is vanilla. The icing is buttercream.

Tiara Cake
This cake was for a very special girl's birthday. She wanted a cake with a tiara theme and this is what I came up with. I made the jewels out of fondant. The tiara itself, I bought. I considered making one out of gum paste, but realized that for a preschool age girl, the coolness of that would be lost compared to a cheap plastic one she could wear. According to her mom, I guessed right on that one! :-) The cake itself is chocolate with buttercream frosting.

Troy's Transformer Cake
I have had the priviledge to make 3 birthday cakes for this special boy: his 1st, 2nd, and now his 3rd birthdays! His latest crazy is transformers, so naturally a transformer cake was in order!

River's Cake
This is a chocolate cake with chocolate and buttercream frosting. It was for a baby shower. The little girl (due to arrive shortly!) is going to be named River. This was one of those fun cakes that I got free reign on! I knew the parents wanted chocolate and I knew how big it needed to be, but the rest was up to me. I always enjoy trying new things and I thought this patterned look was really cool and modern. The mommy-to-be doesn't strike me as having a really girly babyish style, so I went with something kind of unusual for a baby shower. I was thrilled to hear that it went over very well at the shower!

Transformers Cake
Here is the latest in the growing trend of cake + matching cupcakes for kids parties! I love this trend, by the way, it's really fun and super cute! This is strawberry cake with buttercream icing. The picture of the cake looks a little weird because I nearly forgot to take a picture of it and snapped that one right at the last second....my appologies.

Coconut Cream Cake
I often get asked the question, "But do your cakes TASTE good??" Well, I realize that you can't taste this cake through your computer, but I thought I'd go ahead and post a picture of a cake that has been cut. You can't taste it, but this coconut cake, made from scratch of course, is moist, rich, and absolutely delicious! In fact, it was "have another piece and lick the plate" delicious! And this cake is not an exception to the rule when it comes to the cakes I make. Yes, they taste good!!
A Cake For A Cook
This is a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. It was for a surprise birthday party for a lady who loves to cook. So, the top tier of the cake is a stove/oven and the vine going around the bottom two tiers has cooking/baking tools growing off of it!

Cupcake Wedding
For this wedding, I made 200 cupcakes in 3 flavors as well as a small round top tier to be saved. The cupcake flavors were red velvet, chocolate, and vanilla. They were all iced with cream cheese icing. The reception was held at the Sun Sphere in Knoxville and I have to say, it was one of the coolest reception locations I've seen.

Argyle Cake
This was a surprise 40th birthday cake. It's a chocolate cake with buttercream icing. Men's cakes always challenge me because my real talent is flowers. It's fun to think of different ideas!

Lemon Cupcakes
I forgot to take a picture of these cupcakes at first, so these are actually left overs! These are scratch made lemon cupcakes with an absolutely delicious lemon buttercream icing that I came up with. Both the cake and the icing were experimental, and I have to say, they were both real winners! These were for a baby shower for a little boy named Neo.....yes, like in the Matrix! :-)

Ana's Cake
Lakers Groom's Cake
This is a groom's cake that I made for a Lakers fan! The basketball is cake too. It's a yellow cake with buttercream icing. I made the bride's cake for this wedding also. I'll post it in the next post. It will be called Ana's Cake. It was a really beautiful wedding and I was so glad to be part of it!

John and Debbie's Cake
I made this cake for my aunt and uncle's 40th wedding anniversary. It's a vanilla cake with key lime filling and white mountain frosting. This was one of the rare cakes that I make that I also got to eat! I have to say, the combination of the key lime with the vanilla cake and marshmellowy frosting was AWESOME! The flowers are royal icing.
Guitar Cake
This was Ben's birthday cake this year. He requested that the guitar be yellow and white. It's a chocolate cake with buttercream icing. Fun, huh?

Reincarnation....
Ok, so this is the reincarnation of that anniversary cake that got buggered by the humidity! I closed the windows and turned on the AC for this one! It's the same cake - vanilla with key lime filling and buttercream icing. I didn't want to do exactly the same thing twice, so this one got garlands instead of polka dots! :-)
First Incarnation....
Ok, so this is a first anniversary cake that I was asked to make spur of the moment! It's a vanilla cake with key lime filling (YUM!) and buttercream icing. Unfortunately, we had the windows open for a while after a decorated this one and the humidity caused the buttercream to get kind of funky, so I redecorated it at midnight! :-)
Blue Hydrangea Wedding Shower Cake
First Catering Job...
This is a cake I made for a baby shower. It's a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I also did full catering for this shower - my first experience doing that! I made homemade rolls to use for sandwiches, homemade southwestern potato salad, homemade BLT pasta salad, and fruit salad. It was a fun event!

A Beary Happy Birthday
These cakes were for a first birthday party. The large 3D bear was for the party guests and the small 3D bear was for the baby to destroy! These were vanilla cakes with buttercream icing. The other little bears were ones that I had made with extra batter and just went ahaed and decorated because I didn't know what else to do with them! I figure extra cake never ruined a party!
Baby Bears
This cake was for a small baby shower for a baby boy who was born premature. It's a strawberry cake with buttercream icing.

A Special First Birthday.....
This little cake is a first birthday cake for a sweet little girl who shares my name, Leah! It's a strawberry cake with buttercream icing. This cake was for a small get together held on her actual birthday. I made her a bigger more exciting cake for her party a few days later.

Bright and Cheerful!
This is a red velvet cake that I made for a 21st birthday. It was for my cousin's girlfriend so he sort of got the family hook up! He also gave me free reign to do whatever I wanted as long as it was "fun" and had bright colors. So, this is what I came up with! I hope she likes it!

Happy Easter!
Here is a cake I made for my family's Easter lunch. It's a vanilla cake with almond buttercream underneath the fondant. There was still a little powdered sugar on the cake when I took the picture (I brushed it off later) - sorry about that! :-)
