Owl Cake

Owls are quite the thing lately! I loved this idea that a mommy-to-be picked out and brought to me for her baby shower. By the way, this was the first gluten free cake I've made. It was delicious!

River's Cake

This is a chocolate cake with chocolate and buttercream frosting. It was for a baby shower. The little girl (due to arrive shortly!) is going to be named River. This was one of those fun cakes that I got free reign on! I knew the parents wanted chocolate and I knew how big it needed to be, but the rest was up to me. I always enjoy trying new things and I thought this patterned look was really cool and modern. The mommy-to-be doesn't strike me as having a really girly babyish style, so I went with something kind of unusual for a baby shower. I was thrilled to hear that it went over very well at the shower!

Lemon Cupcakes

I forgot to take a picture of these cupcakes at first, so these are actually left overs! These are scratch made lemon cupcakes with an absolutely delicious lemon buttercream icing that I came up with. Both the cake and the icing were experimental, and I have to say, they were both real winners! These were for a baby shower for a little boy named Neo.....yes, like in the Matrix! :-)

Maddox's Adoption Cake

This very special cake was to celebrate the finalization of adoption of sweet baby Maddox! It's a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing.

First Catering Job...

This is a cake I made for a baby shower. It's a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. I also did full catering for this shower - my first experience doing that! I made homemade rolls to use for sandwiches, homemade southwestern potato salad, homemade BLT pasta salad, and fruit salad. It was a fun event!

It's a........

These cakes were so much fun! One of them is pink inside and the other one is blue inside. See where this is going? A mother was going to find out by ultrasound the sex of the baby she was having and this was how the family found out. Since there was only going to be a short time between the ultrasound and the family dinner, I had to make two cakes to prepare for either a boy or a girl! After she called to say, "It's a boy!" I changed the decorating on the other cake and gave it to my cousin's little girl. Worked out well for everyone!

Choo Choo.......

This is a baby shower cake that I made to match the napkin that you see on the right. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the train is made out of cake and it sitting on top of the sheet cake beneath it.
