Easter Cake
I made this cake for my family for Easter this year. I love making cakes for my own family because I get to do whatever I want! HA!
Nursery Rhyme Easter Eggs
These are cupcakes covered in fondant to look like Easter eggs! Aren't they cute? They were made for a 2 year old's birthday party whose birthday falls very close to Easter. Her party theme was nursery rhymes. Can you guess the nursery rhyme that goes with each egg?

Butterflies
This is one of my all time favorite cakes! It was made for a little girl's birthday party. The theme of the party was Fancy Nancy (a storybook character) so everything had to be really fancy. That was as much as anyone told me, "make it fancy!" and I came up with the rest on my own. When I got there, by an amazing coincidence, the whole party was decked out in butterflies! Three people contributed separately to the decorations and all of us chose butterflies! It was such a special day!
Purple Zebra Cake
This cool cake was requested by a little girl for her 11th birthday. I love making cakes for kids because they always force me to be more creative than I am naturally! I never would have thought of purple zebra stripes myself, but they look really cool!

Tiara Cake
This cake was for a very special girl's birthday. She wanted a cake with a tiara theme and this is what I came up with. I made the jewels out of fondant. The tiara itself, I bought. I considered making one out of gum paste, but realized that for a preschool age girl, the coolness of that would be lost compared to a cheap plastic one she could wear. According to her mom, I guessed right on that one! :-) The cake itself is chocolate with buttercream frosting.

Happy Easter!
Here is a cake I made for my family's Easter lunch. It's a vanilla cake with almond buttercream underneath the fondant. There was still a little powdered sugar on the cake when I took the picture (I brushed it off later) - sorry about that! :-)

Monkey Cake
This is a cake I made for my little cousin. She wanted a monkey cake and this is what I came up with! She also said that she likes orange - hence the orange monkey. I don't do much fondant work, but I decided this cake just needed to be done in fondant. I readily admit that my fondant work is not the best, but I was reasonably happy with how this cake ended up.

A Fun Birthday Cake
This is one of the very few cakes I've done in fondant. I don't generally use fondant because it's expensive, difficult to work with, and doesn't taste all that good. But if I have to use it I will, and that was the case with this cake. This was my aunt's 50th birthday cake and it was served outdoors in the summer. Buttercream melts, so fondant was the solution! The words on the cake correspond to words that people used to describe my aunt in poems they wrote for a book for her birthday present.
